The Formula Winter Series kicks off

After the GTs, the formula car scene is now discovering racing in winter. The “Formula Winter Series” offers four racing events on top tracks in February and March.

Promoter Gedlich Racing describes the idea: “We want to give teams and drivers the opportunity to race on the most beautiful tracks in Spain during two winter months. In addition, the Formula Winter Series is ideal to train for the summer season in other racing series.”

5.5 hours of driving and two races

A Formula Winter Series event consists of three days. Day 1 and 2 are FWS Test Days, which offer a total of around four hours of test time. Day 3 is the FWS Race Day with two qualifying sessions and two races of 30 minutes each.
The race events run as part of the GT Winter Series event package, a format that has been established for years.

Tatuus, Abarth and Pirelli as specifications for F4 cars

As far as the technical requirements are concerned, the promoter is relying on Tatuus Gen2 as well as Abarth engines for the Formula 4 cars in the Formula Winter Series, as is standard in the European F4 series.

German Race Director

The race director is the German Werner Aichinger. He is considered one of the most established race directors around and has a lot of experience with Formula Series, for example he was once involved in the discovery of Michael Schumacher in the junior series Formula König. As a link to international teams, he will pay special attention to clean racing and discipline in the field.

The best tracks in Spain in four back-to-back events

There are four rounds in the starting season at top FIA venues: Jerez, Valencia, Navarra and Barcelona attract with the latest standards and reliable weather conditions. Each of the circuits is a highlight, full of tradition and at the same time with a modern setting.
Good for teams and riders: as there are always two events back to back, i.e. held on two consecutive weekends, the players can take in two race events with one journey and a good week’s stay each.

Calendar published, registrations begin

The calendar for the 2023 season is set. It starts in February in Jerez and Valencia, and less than a month later in Navarra and Barcelona. So you can cover two race events plus lots of testing with only one journey each. After the season finale in Barcelona, the teams can comfortably travel home and prepare for the upcoming Central European season. So nothing stands in the way of sunny racing during the winter months.
