The FWS picks up speed – renowned teams on board

The Formula Winter Series has recently opened the registration gates. Already now some well-known teams are on board – support by Tatuus and AutoTecnica

“The FWS is going down well,” says project manager and sales manager Robin Selbach. “Teams have already specifically signed up to participate. In addition, we are in contact with several others who are currently in talks with drivers and whose enrollment we expect shortly. We are currently assuming about 20 starters in the premiere year,” said Selbach.

Among the starters mentioned are well-known teams such as US Racing. The team of Gerhard Ungar and Ralf Schumacher will be at the start with 3-4 cars. In addition to the commitment in the ADAC F4 and the Italian F4, the Formula Winter Series is the sensible addition in the winter. The team can scout new drivers, as well as offer the existing squad training opportunities and races in the off-season.

Marco Antonelli and Andrej Slak have also recognized these opportunities and will be represented with their teams AKM Motorsport and AS Motorsport each with several cars in the Formula Winter Series.

Some more teams, the series organizer lets it be known, are planning to participate in the FWS and will be announced shortly.

Talks are also underway with partners who support the series. There will be on-site support from vehicle manufacturer Tatuus and engine partner AutoTecnica.

In the control of compliance with the regulations and in the race control, one relies on proven personnel. The technical scrutineering will be carried out by the Spanish motorsport authority RFEDA, which is familiar with the vehicles through the Spanish F4 Championship, in cooperation with AutoTecnica. Race control will be handled by Werner Aichinger, who is well known and established in Formula Sport.

It seems that the FWS has struck a chord with teams and drivers with its concept of offering testing and racing time in Spain during the winter. Preparations for the races, as well as aspects such as PR and video coverage, are in full swing. The season starts on February 10, 2023 in Jerez de la Frontera.
